Obituary for Cris Lazo Villanueva
Cris Lazo Villanueva, U.S. Navy (Ret), age 72 of Pensacola, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Cris was born in La Paz, San Narciso, Zambales, Philippines on July 25, 1948 to the late Zacarias G. Villanueva and Adelina Lazo Villanueva. Cris proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring after 22 years of service as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. After retiring from the Navy, Cris worked for the Florida Department of Corrections for 14 years retiring as a Correctional Officer Sergeant. Cris joined Freemasonry in 1977, was the Worshipful Master of Escambia Lodge No. 15 in 2014, Scottish Rite Mason since 1990, and KCCH (Knight Commander of the Court of Honor) since 2011. He was also a member of United Pangasinenses of NW Florida (UPangs), Northwest Florida Phil-Am Foundation, and Little Flower Catholic Church. Cris adored his loving and supportive wife of 49 years, Estrella, and his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Zacarias Villanueva and Adelina Villanueva; his wife, Estrella Agloro Villanueva; his sister, Estrella Villanueva Salvacruz, and his brother, Carlito Villanueva. Cris is survived by his son, Rocky Villanueva’ daughter, Jeannie V. Shields (Doug) and three grandchildren, Jessalyn Shields, Aisley Shields and Brylee Shields. He is also survived by his sister, Luz Villanueva Paulo. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South beginning at 11:30 a.m. with the funeral service at 12:15 p.m. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
