Obituary for Charles Smith

Charles I. Smith, 80, of Pensacola, FL passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2019. In High School he excelled in sports and had the high jump record at Washington High School for 28 yrs. He played varsity basketball all 4 years of high school as well as football. He also coached the grade school basketball team. He went to Indiana University (IND) on a track scholarship only attending one year before enlisting in the United Sates Air Force. Dad traveled the world extensively while in the air force and retired as a Senior Master Sargent. Dad was a Mason, loved to fish and play bingo, was an excellent cook.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Smith; grandparents, Clyde and Lucy Davis; brother, James Wendell Smith and his son, Miquel Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mercedes C. Smith; daughters, Carla Denise Smith, Constance Delores Smith, Kimberly Dawn Hennessy, Maria Smith and Bridgett Mercedes Smith; son, Jeffrey Stephen Smith; sister, Carolyn M. Smith; 1st cousin, Robert E. Davis Sr. and a host of beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial service will be Monday, December 9, 2019 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South at 12:00 p.m. with Andres Doemeadios officiating. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery.
