Obituary for Charles Nathaniel Perry

Charles Nathaniel Perry, born October 6th, 1937 in Somerville, MA to William G Perry and Gertrude E Perry. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Dorothy Perry, Cantonment FL, her sons, Greg Goddard (Karmen), and Daniel Goddard (Alana), as well as his sisters Grace Perry of Livingston, AL and Catherine Perry of Atlanta, GA, his children Steve Perry, (Suzi), Greg Perry (Karen), David Perry, Kara Whitney (David), his ten grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Charles served in the Army for 3 years in communications intelligence, stationed in Germany. Upon his service period he returned to Atlanta and married Barbara Waller on May 1, 1965. He initially worked in the insurance industry and subsequently managed a Carpet and Janitorial business in Albany, Georgia. In 1976, they moved to Pensacola, Florida with their young family and fulfilled his dream of owning his own business. He started Charles’ Quality Cleaning Service and later renamed it to Professional Cleaning Service until 2009, when he retired. In 1995, he joined Sacred Heart Hospital as a second job, holding several positions for the next 15 years. Charles and Barbara were married for 34 years when Barbara died in 1999.
Charles and Dorothy Moloney married on May 6th, 2000. They immediately began 2 weeks traveling to Europe. Charles and Dorothy shared their love of the Catholic Church, specifically St. Mary’s and St. Jude, most recently. They both served as Eucharistic Ministers and sacristans and met at St. Mary’s Prayer Group. Charles was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed helping with all the charitable activities. Charles and Dorothy were also involved with pet therapy volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House and Reading Education Assistance Program at the SW Public Library, and Salvation Army bell ringing with their shelties, Dusty and Dakota. Charles was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, but did not let it slow him down. He bravely fought this disease for the next 17 years alongside Dorothy. He was an avid fan of classic cars, golfing, watching sports and pursuing his lifetime hobbies which included coin and stamp collecting. Charles was competitive and enjoyed playing dominoes with his friends, family, and grandkids. He was a proud survivor of the Blue Bell ice cream famine in 2015 and was a pro bono taste tester for new flavors. Whether you knew him or not he never met a stranger. His love was unconditional. In his last few years, he loved driving his ‘56 Chevy and going out to dinner with family and friends.
