Charles Phillip Bobe

Charlie Bobe, age 84, went home to be with the Lord on March 6, 2012. Charlie, a native Pensacolian, was born on July 24th, 1927 to John C. and Bernice Bobe. He was an active life-long member of East Hill Baptist Church and taught children’s Sunday School for many years. Charlie served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1947. Upon returning from military service in Guam, Charlie went to work for Gulf Power Company for 45 years, retiring in 1991. Charlie was a member of several civic organizations. During retirement he stayed involved with the one organization he had a huge passion for - The Greater Pensacola Junior Golf Association/The First Tee. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Clinton and Ted; and two sisters, Lorene Taylor and Kathy Hines. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Edith; children, Phil (Jan), Susan (Norman) Brown, Steve (Kim), Corey (Amelia); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dottie Miller. Visitation will be Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:00 at East Hill Baptist Church, 3960 Spanish Trail with a “Celebration of his life” service to follow from 11:00 to 12:00. Interment will be at Bayview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, The First Tee of Northwest Florida or the charity of your choice.
