Obituary for Bryce Winnett

Bryce Winnett passed away Friday, September 4, 2020
He was born September 26, 1926. During the depression, he went to work to help support his family. He joined the Army Corp at age of 17 or 18, when it split he went into the Air Force. He served as a Tech SGT for 20 years, 6 months. He met and married Mom at 21 years old, Mom was 17 in 1947. They spent 68 years together when Mom passed away in 2015.
Dad was a part of the Berlin Airlift from 1946 to 1947. He was honored in New Orleans and also in Berlin when they were honoring the men that were a part of that unit in 1998, at the 50th Anniversary. After Dad retired from the Post Office, they traveled for 13 years and finally settled in Lillian, AL. They traveled short trips for a few more years. They led a full life with many wonderful adventures. They made numerous friends along the way. He had many stories that he told and they were very interesting. He loves God, his life, his children and his extended family. Above all he truly loves Mom. He took care of all of his family. He was a great Dad and loving husband.
He is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Ollie Wilkinson, Sybil Stanford, Bertha Jennett and Ernestine “Granny” Hays; brothers, Brack Winnett and Olan Winnett; parents, John and Jane Winnett, his wife, Christine Winnett and his granddaughter, Amanda Winnett. He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Franklin; son, William Winnett; grandson; Timothy (Brittney) Winnett; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, September 14, 2020 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South beginning at 8:30 a.m. and the funeral service at 9:30 a.m. with Reverend Daniel W. Randall officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
