Willis "Willie" Gilmore Tew

Willie G Tew, age 76, of Milton, FL passed away on Friday, October 14, 2016. He was born May 8, 1940 in Buckatunna, MS. He was a very strong willed, intelligent and accomplished man, having spent numerous years in the military as well as serving the military as a civilian. Willie then began experiencing his retired life in many fascinating and time-filling ways with people and his second love, gardening. Known as Willie or Mr. Tew to outsiders, he was Husband, Father and Papa to those of us who knew him more personally. Willie was devotedly married to Virginia G Tew until her passing and is now by her side, standing tall in glorious Heaven, without anguish or pain. I believe the words, "he will be missed" can never sum up the hole his passing has left behind for many of us in our lives. Having him around to love, raise, teach, and be the authoritative example only he could be was truly a blessing for us all and we are all better because of the gift given to us to allow him into our hearts and lives. Papa, you can now rest in peace. Preceding him in death was his mother, Eula Tew and his father, James Tew; his wife, Virginia G Tew; his sister, Virginia Peeples. Survivors include his brother, Jerry (Cordelia) Tew; his sister, Freida James; step children; Dixie Allesio, Edward (Mary)Johnson, Richard Johnson, Theresa Lukers, Rene Masters, Cynthia Beasley, Andrea Lippwe, Andrew Johnson, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give special thanks to doctors and nurses at West FL Hospital Critical Care Unit, nurses and staff at West FL Covenant Hospice, and amazing family and friends for their extended care and love shown to such an amazing man and Central Chapel, 405 Beverly Pkwy, Pensacola, FL 32505, for guiding the family through such trying and emotional times. Viewing times are Tuesday, October 18, 2016: 4:00pm-4:30pm (Family), 5:00pm-7:00pm (friends). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 11:00am then following up at Pensacola NAS Barrancas Cemetary.
