Virginia M. Riddles

Mrs. Virginia Mildred Riddles, 94, of 7177 Spanish Trail Road, Pensacola, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. A native of Grand Ridge, Florida, Virginia made her home in Pensacola with her husband of 77 years, Carlton H. Riddles. In this home, she raised her children, helped her husband run his business, supported him in his ministry, and became a friend and neighbor to all who had the blessing of knowing her. Virginia was known by all for being the best chef anywhere around. Her younger years were filled with friends and family gathered around her dining room table for hours of delicious fried chicken or gumbo and a warm cup of coffee with dessert. She spent many years working in food service for Escambia School District. Eventually, Virginia became assistant manager at Pensacola Junior College where she planned meals for students and faculty. She retired from Pensacola Junior College when she was 63. Virginia is survived by her three children: Betty Riddles of Wilmer, Alabama; Margaret Virginia Mundy of Walnut Hill, Florida, and Howard Carlton Riddles of Tampa, Florida. She also leaves behind her five grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Jim Neel of Panama City, Florida, and her sister, Johnnie Mae Kirkland of Cairo, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Howard Riddles and her son, Huey Paul Riddles. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Coralee Brogdon Mortallero and Lola Eufalla Peel and by a brother, Westbrook Neal. The memorial services for Virginia Mildred Riddles will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South at 11:00 a.m.,Saturday, August 17, 2013. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Family only may gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m.to 10:30 a.m. Friends may visit from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will include the following: Sebastian Cervantes, Edgar Glisson, Jimmy Neel, Jerry Reed, Willie Rudd, Bert Riddles, Charles Riddles, Raymond Riddles, Jr., Zane Riddles, and Aaron Wallace.
