Victoria Jane Parsons Family…..God…..Country July 20, 1955 – February 12, 2024 Vickie was born in Beckley, West Virginia to Blaine Lewis Sisson Jr. and Jane Anne Wood, she lived in MacArthur, West Virginia for most of the first 18 years of her life. Upon graduation from Woodrow Wilson High School she enlisted in the United States Navy and went to basic training in Orlando, Florida. After basic training she was sent to Fleet Sonar Training Center, Key West, Florida for training as an Ocean Systems Technician (OT). While stationed in Key West, Vickie met William Parsons and they were married in the chapel on Truman Annex on February 28, 1974. The instructors talked with the detailer and arranged to have Vickie’s orders match Bill’s to Argentia Newfoundland. They fell in love with Newfoundland and its people. Completing her four year enlistment her first son was born in St. John’s, with his godparents being Charles and Shirley Parsons from St. John’s. Thousands of great memories she had of the Island but she enjoyed eating flippers and left Arg with five Newfoundland dogs. Vic accompanied her husband for two years in Iceland, pretty Island in summer, and she was able to take vacations in Denmark and Spain. After Iceland they spent the next 4 years in the Norfolk, Virginia area, where her second son was born, then return to her favorite place, Newfoundland for two more years. With children getting into school age it was time to find a place to retire. Pensacola, Florida had a posting that was perfect to retire from, good schools and no snow. Victoria was a member of the American Legion Post 340 for 32 consecutive years and a very proud member of the West Escambia Senior Citizens Organization (WESCO) for the past 3 years. Victoria is preceded in death by her parents and a younger brother, Charles Sisson. Victoria is survived by her husband William Parsons; sons, Brian Parsons and Kenneth Parsons both from Cantonment, Florida; grandchildren, Jasmine (Anthony) Marion of Brewton, Alabama, Kelly Parsons and William Parsons both from Cantonment, Florida; brothers, Dr. Michael (Lorie) Sisson of Davisville, West Virginia and Christopher (Melanie) Sisson of Shady Springs, West Virginia. Victoria will be placed in Barrancas National Cemetery aboard Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida.
