Vernon G. Forte

Vernon G. Forte 1926-2016 Vernon G. Forte passed peacefully from this world to a better place on Nov. 28, 2016 after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by family. Vernon was born on Nov. 3, 1926 in Wicksburg, AL to the late Joseph and Mary Alice Gilley. She was preceded in death by her son, Marston Glen Forte, Jr. Vernon is survived by her husband of 52 years, Glen Forte; loving and devoted nieces, Brenda Heath, Dianne Overton and Teresa Boswell; special nephews, Ralph (Inez) Gilley, Christopher Heath and Jonathan Heath; stepson, Rusty Forte; six grandchildren, Kenneth (Christina), Kevin and Christopher Forte, Taylor (Cole) Perrin, and Eva and Elysia Forte; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins Vernon enjoyed fishing, socializing and playing games with friends. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. Vernon and Glen had a house on Lake Talquin where they enjoyed many years fishing and entertaining family and friends. In 1983 Vernon became a member of the Order of Eastern Star serving as Worthy Matron in 1988. She was a very active member until her health problems prevailed. Vernon was a lifelong member of East Brent Baptist Church. In later years, Vernon enjoyed going to senior citizen activities at Bayview Park and playing games at Heights Baptist Church. She made friends wherever she went. Sunday afternoons were spent playing cards with Glen and two of her dear friends, Carol Harrod and Margie Watson. Vernon always enjoyed weekly games with niece, Brenda Heath and nephews, Christopher Heath and Jonathan Heath. She was dearly loved and will be missed by a host of family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sat., Dec. 3, 2016 at East Brent Baptist Church (Building G) with Dr. Dale Patterson officiating. Burial will follow services in Concord Church Cemetery, Jay, FL. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fri., Dec. 2, 2016 at the church.
