Timothy John Norrbom

Timothy John “Norby” Norrbom, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 23, 2024. Tim was born in Bell, California, on January 20, 1949, to Paul and Helen Norrbom. He was the middle of two brothers Paul and Ron. The family moved to Whittier, California in 1955, where he loved being raised. Tim graduated from the University of Southern California with a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering. While there, he participated in Navy ROTC, after which he was commissioned in the US Navy. Tim had an exemplary career as a Naval aviator, where he flew both planes and helicopters. Tim’s favorite tour of duty was at Notre Dame, where he taught Naval War Strategy. While there, Tim also attained his Masters in Business Administration, always seeing himself in business after his Navy career. His military career spanned 21 years and allowed him to visit 21 countries. Tim retired as a Commander. In 1972, while a student pilot in Pensacola, FL, Tim met Patty Saltmarsh at the Officers Club at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola. They married in 1981 and had two children, Barbara, in 1983, and David, in 1986. Tim’s aspirations did not end with the Navy. In 1993, he and Patty opened the All American Hero restaurant, renowned for its Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. Following his time in restaurant ownership, Tim pursued a career in real estate as an agent and broker. Tim enjoyed helping families and friends and found great success. Tim retired in 2014. In his retirement, he valued selfless service, often volunteering at local schools by supporting their science and math programs. He was a faithful USO volunteer, an avid reader, and a lover of golf and surfing. He loved traveling back home to California every year to visit family and lifelong friends which included Phil Keosababian and Steinar Sire. Above all, Tim valued his family and friends and is fondly remembered by many. Tim is survived by his wife, Patty (married for 43 years); his daughter, Barbara (granddaughter Brynne), and his son David (wife Tamara and granddaughter Emma), and a large extended family. Services will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (401 Van Pelt Lane, Pensacola, FL) on Wednesday September 4, 2024. Visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM, Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment in Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:00 PM, following the service. Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, is entrusted with arrangements.
