T.Michael Wilson T. Michael Wilson, 71, of Pensacola, Fl died Saturday, December 31, 2016, surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with cancer. He was born September 1, 1945 in Pascagoula MS to the late Thomas F. and Myrtle L. (Brooks) Wilson. Michael graduated from Lucedale High School in Lucedale, MS in May 1963. He joined the U. S. Navy in September 1963, and was involved in various duties including, but not limited to, Gemini 3, 10 and 11 recovery teams. Michael achieved the rank of E-5 and was named Sailor of the Month in July 1965. After leaving the Navy, he worked as Asst. Plant Manager of a large printing company. From there, he managed two jewelry stores and decided that retail was not for him. Michael went to work for the State of Florida Department of Health, where he worked for 35 years and retired in 2009. His Love for emergency medicine led him to obtain an Emergency Medical Technician License. After working part time for 20 years for Escambia County Emergency Medical Services, he retired in 2000. During his tenure at EMS he was named Emergency Medical Technician of the Year by the Pensacola Jaycees on January 15, 1985. During his tenure with the Department of Health, he worked in various programs and was Supervisor of the OSDS program for 7 years. During his last 10 years with the State, he worked as the Biomedical Waste Coordinator for the four Northwest Counties of Florida. Michael maintained a close relationship with his clients and loved his work. He was also the regulator and inspector for all Body Art facilities. During his final years, Michael was a volunteer at the Museum of Naval Aviation as well as a volunteer for the Blue Angels Flight Line. He was a member and active Deacon with Bethel Baptist Church at 3097 Patricia Drive, Pensacola. He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby brother, Louis Everette Wilson; sister, Carole Hall; and brother, Bob Wilson. He is survived by his most loving wife of 33 years, Vanessa Wilson; a son, Michael J. Wilson of Virginia; two daughters, Lindica D. Merchent of Virginia and Monica L. Wilson of Pensacola; two sisters, Barbara Tummins of Cleveland, TN and Priscilla D. Harris of Pensacola; and one grandson, Justin McCarty. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 9, 2017at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. Wayne Cooper officiating. Burial will follow services in Barrancas National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2016 at the funeral home.
