Susan Hollen

Susan Hollen, of Pensacola, Florida, left us on August 19, 2023, for her eternal home surrounded by God’s love and the love of the family and beloved pets that went before her, most importantly her mom, Nancy and of course, Bouncer. Susan was born on December 13, 1960, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, to James Edmund Hollen and Nancy Sue Hollen (Garner). The family later moved to Wetumpka, Alabama, until 1977, at which time she moved to Pensacola, Florida, with her mother and siblings. Susan had a great love for her family and for her fur babies. She was always there for her family, friends and at times strangers, when she was needed. She believed in helping others in secret, keeping her act of kindness between her and God. She also had a big heart for animals. She supported the Humane Society and showed compassion daily for years to a colony of homeless cats. Her motto: May life treat you the way you treat your animals. Susan was an employee of Deluna Lanes Bowling Center for 40 years. She was there the day the center opened and stayed commited to her very last day. She was a dedicated employee who could be trusted due to her honesty and integrity. She made many friends there over the years, some who are still there and others who have also passed. She was there to laugh and joke with them, listen when they needed an ear, support them in their hard times and celebrate with them in good times. Her ability to include humor, wit and sarcasm in one remark left many pondering should I laugh or feel insulted. She had a tough mind with a tender heart that treated people accordingly. She had no idea how important she was to others and the amount of people she has impacted. Susan is survived by her siblings, James V. Hollen and Becky Hollen Coffey (Anthony E. Coffey); nephews, Matt Coffey, Ryan Coffey, Cody Hollen (Janel Hollen) and Jesse Hollen; nieces, Kaelyn Coffey and Hannah Amerson (Dylan Amerson); great nieces, Tinsley Coffey and Lily Amerson; great nephew, Caison Hollen; along with aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, all of whom loved her dearly. The Memorial Visitation to honor her will be Thursday, August 31, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, in Cantonment, Florida. A Celebration of Life will follow in the coming weeks to continue to show our love for her. In lieu of flowers, we are certain Susan would rather a donation be made to the Humane Society (850) 432-4250 or the EscaRosa Trap-Neuter-Release Group, text (850) 501-1531, to honor her instead. Susan was an incredible person with a fighting spirit. Her heart was full for the people and animals she loved. She gave to others more than she took, and was humbly grateful for what God blessed her with. “She is worth more than rubies” Proverbs 31:10
