Susan Jones Adams February 6, 1954 – July 14, 2019 Susan Diane Jones Adams was born February 6, 1954 in Bethesda, Maryland and passed from this life on July 14, 2019 in Pensacola, Florida at the age of 65. In her passing, she left behind her beloved husband of 41 years, James “Pete” Adams, son Benjamin Adams, daughter Teri Long and husband Andrew, and three precious grandchildren Skyler, Braxton, and Emi Long. She is also survived by her parents, J. P. and Mildred Jones, sister Paulette Brown and husband William, sister Carol Kearley and husband Kenneth, brother Arthur Jones, brother-in-law Stan Adams and wife Donna, and brother-in-law, Steve Hartzog. Among her large and loving family are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Susan’s foremost goal in life was to be a faithful Christian. She was a member of the church of Christ at East Hill from her teen years until now. After being reared as a Navy “brat” Susan had no difficulty adjusting to her permanent home in the Pensacola area, graduating from Gulf Breeze High School in 1972, and graduating from the University of West Florida in 1977 with a degree in Special Education. Susan was a loving mother and homemaker, busily supporting her children in academics, sports and musical activities. She later accepted the challenge of teaching at-risk girls at the PACE Center for Girls. During the last 20 years of her life, she enjoyed an active membership with the Pensacola Sound Chorus of Sweet Adelines, singing and performing, and serving as an officer. In addition to her love of music, Susan was adept in needlework, generously spending hours cross-stitching and crocheting gifts for her large extended family. She loved her family and kept an active Facebook page to stay in touch with them all. In the last 4 years of her life, Susan’s dearest delight was her three beautiful grandchildren, being undaunted in flying to Nebraska and Okinawa to spend “Grammy” time with them. Susan’s passing has left a void in the lives of her family and friends. May God give us all comfort. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Red Cross or the American Cancer Society.
