Sandy Brewer was welcomed into this world on April 23, 1955, and peacefully passed away in her home on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, with her loving and devoted family surrounding her. Sandy succumbed from the ravages of Dementia with Lewy Body disease. Sandy was an ever-shining beacon of Light, Love, devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother (Mimi), Sister, Aunt, Niece, Daughter, and Loving Soul to family and Friends. So gifted and determined was Sandy during her lifetime that she expertly wore many hats of diversity. Sandy began her working career at Gulf Power in the Accounting department as a stenographer. Extremely diligent and exacting in her work, she was selected to be trained and to teach the initial phases of the accounting department computer system to her fellow coworkers. After an all too short career, Sandy decided to start our lively family and threw herself into the role of motherhood with the same determination. While nurturing her family, she became restless and her hobby of improving the décor of her home ultimately led her to begin working with Home Interiors and Gifts. Again, she found success at that newfound venture that she was decorated with several gifts and awards. As time crept by and her children became older and more responsible, Sandy decided to venture back into the work world beginning with Gayfers department store, a short stint back with Gulf Power and then began a long career at the University of West Florida as secretary and receptionist at the Child Development Center, again, honing her self-taught computer skills. Continuing to find a different path to enrich her continuously blossoming technical skills at the University, she accepted a position with the Department of Counseling and Wellness there at the University of West Florida. This multifaceted position added much more to her resume as she became receptionist, secretary, budget guru, Outreach advertiser, advisor, compassionate and confidential ear, and many more responsibilities that can be extolled. Her experience, work ethic and diligence, once again, vaulted her into the position of Executive Administrative Assistant for the Counseling, Wellness and Psychological services department under the acting Director of that department and Assistant Vice-President. So professionally adept was she that, upon her retirement, her workload required the acquisition of several employees to handle her duties. Making certain that our family could count on interesting and fun summer vacations were also a high priority planning event for Sandy in her less than abundant free time. Our favorite vacation destination, periodically, was Walt Disney World and she enjoyed watching our children riding the amusements rides as much as she enjoyed riding on them herself. Sandy’s last vacation was a weeklong stay at Port Orleans and enjoying the different Disney World Kingdoms. Each day of our venture, as she entered the Magic Kingdom, she was heard to say, “I still get Goosebumps coming here”! Another treat, that she so looked forward to, was the annual long weekend getaway with her sisters. It was the opportunity for the ladies to bond, eat, shop but mostly laugh at their jokes and antics. The event grew larger each year, until they christened their merry band of ladies the “S.A.N.D.A.L.S.”, which stood for Sisters, Aunts, Nieces, Daughters Acquiring Ladyfied Skills. Each time spent with her girls was very dear to her. With retirement freedom, Sandy threw herself into spending more quality time with her grandchildren, gardening and traveling. Sadly, this did not last to the extent that she would have desired when she, suddenly, began developing symptoms of dementia which curtailed most of her planned future. Sandy fought valiantly to maintain as much of her everyday life skills and her varied technical skills for as long as she was able and rarely gave in to despair. Unfortunately, during the throes of the Covid pandemic, her conditioned continued to worsen until she could fight no more. The Light that had radiated so brightly in this world for so long, began to dim as her body and mind succumbed to the disease. Sandy is predeceased by her father and mother, Charles William Kimberl and Mabel Katherine Milsted Kimberl. She leaves behind her grieving family, husband Don Brewer, Son, Jason Brewer (Tiffany), Daughter, Amy Brewer (Dustin), Son, Nicholas Brewer (Tabitha), grandchildren Laila Ball, Bentley Brewer, Morada Ball and Annabella Brewer. She also leaves behind her loving siblings, Steve Kimberl, Kathy Parish, Joseph Kimberl (Karin), Julie Webb (Brian), Mark Kimberl (Mary) and Chris Kimberl (Jeanne) along with a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and grateful friends and co-workers. The family would like to express their gratitude Dr. Don Winslet, Dr. Steven Lenga, Dr. Ethan Gore and the Covenant Hospice Nurses and Aides whose efforts served to make our lives a little more bearable. A special light should, rightfully, shine on our loving children Jason, Tiffany, Amy, Dustin, Nicholas and Tabitha for their strength, attention, physical and emotional assistance, and unwavering Love throughout this entire life trial. There is no way possible that we could have done this without you all. Sandy will be honored by your presence at her viewing and the praying of the Rosary by her uncle, Fr. Gordon Milsted at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South (100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, Florida 32505) on Monday, March 6, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church (9945 Hillview Dr., Pensacola, FL. 32514) performed by Fr. Hank Lech and Concelebrated by Fr. Gordon Milsted on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Sandy will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. Active pallbearers to escort Sandy to her resting place are Steve Kimberl, Joseph Kimberl, Mark Kimberl, Chris Kimberl, Patrick Webb, and Nathan Edler. Honorary pallbearers are Lewis Chappelle, Paul Soderlind, John Garton, Jacob Webb, Brian Webb, all her former co-workers at C.A.P.S. and, finally, her SANDALS girls.
