Ruby Lee Haveard Odom 1929 - 2017 Ruby Lee Haveard Odom, age 88 of Pensacola, Florida, passed away in her sleep on August 21st, 2017 following a long and courageous battle with the effects of a stroke several years prior. Mrs. Odom was born in McLellan, Florida, and lived the majority of her life in Pensacola, Florida. She was a devoted mother of three, worked in her earlier years as a Draw Twist Operator at Chemstrand Corporation, was an avid gardener and fisherman, sharing her bounty with family and friends, providing them with fresh vegetables and an ample supply of goods for their freezers. She was a legendary cook, who enjoyed hosting her family, all who will cherish memories of times at her dinner table. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Homer Charles Odom, Sr, mother, Bessie Fuqua Haveard, father Robert Cleveland Haveard, four sisters Lola Mae Haveard, Lorene Wilson, Mary Ellen Hanks, Raynell Keller, three brothers Robert Haveard, Edward Haveard, Norman Haveard, two step-sisters Bessie Pittman, Alma Alyne Pittman, and two step-brothers Alfred Haveard, and Lewis Haveard. She is survived by her son, Homer Charles Odom Jr (Deborah), two daughters Hilda Jean Burgett (Fred Howard), Kimberly Anne Gadolin (Brad), all of Pensacola, Florida, one sister Jewell Nowling of Andalusia, Alabama, two brothers, Marvin Haveard of Uriah, Alabama, Charles (Chubby) Haveard of Jay, Florida, four grandchildren, Michael Burgett (Kim), of Marietta, Georgia, Christopher Burgett (Ellen) of Houston, Texas, Christi Welch (Peter) of Pensacola, Florida, Elisa Iannilli of Decatur, Georgia, and eight great-grandchildren, Emily Burgett, Garrett Peek, Merrill Burgett, Tyler Welch, Ashton Peek, Audrey Burgett, Connor Burgett, and Cole Burgett. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26th at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Shane Brown, Pastor, Blackwater Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Valley Grove Baptist Cemetery in Munson, Florida. Pallbearers with be grandsons, Michael Burgett, Chris Burgett, and great-grandsons, Garrett Peek, Tyler Welch, Ashton Peek, Connor Burgett, and Cole Burgett. Our appreciation is offered and expressed to the staff of Solaris HCP and Regency Hospice. FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME SOUTH, 100 BEVERLY PARKWAY, IS IN CHARGE OF ARRANGEMENTS. The family will gather at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South on Friday, August 25th at 4:00 p.m. and will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. We will greatly miss the matriarch of our great family, our mother, sister, aunt, Nanni, and to many, simply Ruby. She has bequeathed us with a strong legacy of unconditional love, hard work, and dedication to family.
