Rodney Lee Barnes

Rodney Lee Barnes 1994 - 2015 Rodney Lee Barnes of Pace, FL, born December 30, 1994, loving son of Randy and Becky Barnes and loving brother of Rachel Lynn Barnes went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2015 after a drowning accident off of Crab Island in Destin, FL. Rodney was never seen without a smile on his face. At a young age he found his first love, dancing, which he learned from his mom. He helped to initiate the Hooligan B-Boy Dance Crew. He loved rooting for Dale Jr. and bass fishing with his dad. He loved drawing and painting and had college plans to become an engineer. Rodney graduated from Pace High School in 2014. Rodney was preceded in death by his grandfather, Charlie Ray Barnes and Uncle Wesley Keith Barnes. Rodney is survived by the love of his life, Jenna Gongora; parents; sister; grandparents, Margie Barnes and Winford and Dorothy Miles; uncles and aunts, Charlie (Bridgett) Barnes and Sean (Jodi) Barnes; and numerous cousins. The Barnes family can only hope this tragic death will raise awareness concerning the conditions at and around Crab Island. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Captain Ted Pecot, The Okaloosa County Sheriff Dept., Captain Frank with Destin Air Boat, Sherry Andrews with S.E.A., Chase Rentals, Destin Marina, Dewey Destin’s Restaurant, and numerous volunteers and friends who assisted in searching for Rodney. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Eric Partin of Shoreline Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Bayview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the funeral home.
