Prentiss Lee Savell

Prentiss Lee Savell, 87 of Pensacola, passed away on November 20th, 2023. He was born in Neshoba, County Mississippi, on September 18, 1936, to Martha & Alvin Savell. He was married to his longtime bride of 65 wonderful years, Thelma Crabtree Savell. Prentiss had careers in customer service, plumbing, electrical and retired as a mechanical engineer. He worked at places like G.C. Murphy’s, Mitchell Motors, Westinghouse and Cummings Diesel. Prentiss was a member of Calvary Way Full Gospel Church and a vital part of The Redeemed Family Singers, as their bass singer. He had a passion for telling jokes, singing as often as he could, no matter where he was… whether it was in a group or just by himself, doing his best at putting a smile on everyone’s face that he could, giving genuine heart felt hugs that would make the difference no matter what you were going through or maybe just to brighten your day. He also had a passion for reading his Bible, which he read from cover to cover on multiple occasions, Christian fellowship was also a highlight of his life that he always looked forward to. Prentiss Lee Savell was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Lee and Martha “Zilla” Winstead Savell, of Union, Mississippi; four sisters, Janett Ridout (Fred), Sunshine Pierce (Buford), Polly Smith Nations (John), and Patricia Thorne (Ernest); three brothers, Darwell (Mildred), Didymus (Winnie), and Wayne (Bonnie); sister in law, Evelyn (Dee); brothers in law, Junior, Dewey (Cleo), Thomas better known as “Pal”, and Harvey. Prentiss is survived by his wife of 65 years, Thelma Crabtree Savell; three sons, Anthony (Melissa), Kenneth, and Ashley (Melissa, aka “Moe”), all residing in the Pensacola and Milton area; sister, Frances Doser Saxton; sisters in law, Velma (Mac) and Edna; grandchildren, Anthony Thomas Lee, Jacob (Taylor) and Samantha; and great grandchildren; Levi and Kennedy Paige. Surviving Prentiss are also 18 nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and nephews and their families. He is also survived by longtime friends and members of the Calvary Way Full Gospel Church in Pensacola, which to him was just extended family members. Memorial Service will be Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Calvary Way Full Gospel Church. Visitation will be one hour prior at 10:00 AM.
