Philip Woodbury Jennings Jr

Philip Woodbury Jennings Jr, 67, of Cantonment, FL, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. He was born in Pensacola, FL and had eight siblings. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Jennings Holmes and his granddaughters Lauren Holmes and Brooklyn Holmes along with sisters: Phyllis Marjorie Gates, Virginia Weinman, and Ruthie Jennings, along with brother; Henry F. Jennings and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Philip W. Jennings Sr.; mother, Ruth Marjorie Jennings; brothers, Michael Leonard Jennings, James Myrick Jennings; sisters, Carolyn J. Handler, and Faye Ellen Mitchell. Pallbearers will be: Ralph Robert (Rob) Handler III, R.J. Handler, Greg Winchester, Keith Welford, Josh Jennings, and Joey Callahan. Honorary Pallbearers: Christopher Jennings and Brandon Weinman. He was a 1973 graduate of J.M. Tate High School. After high school he worked for Edward M, Chadbourne Road Paving Company in the asphalt plant until 1978 when he went to work for the L&N Railroad Company as a Trainman and Switchman eventually becoming a Train Conductor until his retirement after 38 years of faithful service. Phil enjoyed classic movies and television shows and especially old cowboy movies. He was a die-hard Alabama Football fan and always enjoyed watching and engaging in the excitement of the Saturday games, play-offs and championships with his family and close friends whenever possible. He was raised attending Gonzalez Baptist Church and joined the Church of the Home Pastored by the Rev. Chester Bolton in his early twenties where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and developed his lifelong love of the Lord. From his childhood Phil loved fishing and boating and always enjoyed time on the water and time spent at the family’s Perdido Bay Fish Camp. His greatest treasures were his daughter Lisa and his two beautiful granddaughters whom he often babysat with in their early years or whenever he was needed. Phil was a kind and caring person who was always willing to help a friend or family member that needed help and could always be counted on when there was a need. Visitation and funeral service will be Monday, January 30, 2023 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North from 12:00p.m. until1:00p.m. visitation for family and 1:00p.m. until 2:00p.m. for everyone and funeral service will follow from 2: 00p.m. until 3:00p.m. Interment will follow at Gonzalez United Methodist Church Cemetery.
