Pearlie M. Brown Wiggins

Pearlie M. Brown Wiggins was born December 25, 1953. She was the third of five children born to Samuel L. and Dorsey M. Brown. She grew up in Pensacola. She graduated from Tate High School in 1971. During her marriage to Jeremiah Struggs, she gave birth to her only child, Jason Eric Struggs. Pearlie was employed by Escambia County Civil Service Personnel Department as a Clerk Typist at the beginning of her career. In a short period, she was promoted several times, with each change requiring more responsibility and accountability. Pearlie became a Personnel Examiner and then Personnel Technician, a position she held for more than 10 years. She worked in Recruiting and Examining and later Classification and Wage. After 30 years she retired from Escambia County Civil Service in December 2002. In the early 70’s Pearlie met Rosa Hilson and soon afterwards, she began a personal weekly study of the Bible and on April 13, 1975 she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She served for a time with the Gonzalez Congregation and later with the Ensley Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In the year 2000 she moved to Milton, FL and was faithfully serving as an active member of the congregation there until her death. She was well known for her deep study of the Scriptures and her thought-provoking, heartfelt and encouraging comments at the meetings. All who knew her continue to speak of her warmth, kindness, mildness and her beautiful infectious smile. Pearlie was widely known for her hospitality and generosity. She enjoyed cultivating plants and flowers. Shopping with her sisters was also a favorite pastime. Pearlie is preceded in death by her parents Samuel L. and Dorsey M. Brown and her grandson, Jaren J. Struggs. She is survived by her most beloved son, Jason Eric Struggs and his wife LaShawn. Three grandchildren: Jathan Struggs, Jace Struggs and Portia Williams. Three sisters: Cecelia Brown Green, Dorothy Brown and Linda Joyce (Jimmie) Knight. Two Brothers: Samuel Eric (Lois) Brown and Anthony (Katenna) Edwards. Seven Nieces and one nephew: Denise Green, Yolanda Knight, Jermaine Rogers, Jocelyn Michelle Brown, Angela Brown, Felisha Brown, Brittany Edwards and Tiffany Edwards. There are many other relatives and countless friends who join us in mourning her passing. She is dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
