Paul Michael Quinlan

Paul Michael Quinlan, 60 resident of Pensacola, FL took his final ride to heaven on February 12, 2017 surrounded by his family. Paul is preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother Tommie Sue Quinlan. He is survived by his Father Paul Quinlan, His wife of 32 years Bonnie Quinlan, son Patrick (Cimberly) Quinlan, Daughter Jessica (Jason) Cope, son Wade (Michelle) Williams, and son Johnny Duran. His grandchildren, Patrick, Samantha and Skylar Quinlan, Nicholas Allen and Kaleb Cabe, Katarina and Christina Cope and a baby boy on the way, Emily Williams, Austin (Adrianna) Watson, Jonathan (Haley) Watson. And two Great grandsons Zachary and James. His sisters Michelle (Greg) Dean, Lindy (Tomi) Mehlhorn, Monica Wood, and honorary sister Brenda Coleman. He also had several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Paul was born here in Pensacola, FL on February 6, 1957. He spent 20 years in the Navy traveling all over the world including Europe. His duties in the Navy were but not limited to an Aviation Electronics Technician. He was also a Department Training Coordinator for his Dept. One of his Captain’s referred to Paul as “the backbone of the training program, and a Superb Administrator.” He retired as a First Class Petty Officer. After retirement, he settled back in Pensacola and decided he wanted to start a new career in Law enforcement and joined the Correctional officer program at George Stone. Upon graduation he knew he found his true calling in being a Correctional Officer. He then spent the next 20 years at Century Correctional Institution. He went back to school and became an Instructor. He taught a lot of the re-certification classes at the prison and George Stone. His love of guns introduced him to the gun range and he became the Firearms Instructor. He was also a part of the pistol team, where he took home many 1st, 2nd,and 3rd place sharp shooter metals and trophies During his career at Century he gained much love and respect from his peers. Paul loved going to work every day. One of Paul’s mottos was “If you enjoy what you do then it’s not work.” He had just recently retired. Paul was a kind-hearted loving person. He seemed tough on the outside, but was a true softie. He was very quick witted and could make a room laugh in an instant. He had an extreme soft spot for his grandchildren and his dogs. The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. David Philips who was Paul’s Dr. for 15 years. Thank you to all the nurses at Sacred Heart Hospital of the Emerald Coast in Destin that took such great care of Paul during his stay. A big Thank you to Sergeant Melissa Dixon (Big Sis) for all your help handling everything at CCI you will always hold a special place in our heart. The family is asking in lieu of flowers to please make a donation to the American cancer society in Paul’s name. Funeral services are being held at Faith Chapel funeral home south on Friday February 17, 2017. Visitation for family is from 10:30 to 11:30 and for Friends from 11:30 to 12:30. The Service will start promptly at 12:30. Burial will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery at 2:00PM. Pallbearers will be: Sergeant Xavier Grice, Sergeant Anthony Magaha, Sergeant Jack Coppenger, Sergeant Jarrod Jones, Sergeant Timothy H. Cassady Jr., and Retired Sergeant Harold Mason.
