Patricia Louise Burke

Patricia was born in Montgomery Alabama to Dewey and Elizabeth Herring. She was the second of four children. Dewey and Elizabeth moved their family to Pensacola, Florida shortly after her birth. Patricia had been a life-long resident ever since. After graduating from Pensacola High in 1956, Patricia met the love of her life, Nicholas Burke. Nick was a Marine Pilot and upon completion of his training, Patricia and Nick began their life together. Their life was adventurous. She became a world traveler. Egypt, Bangkok, Hawaii, Germany, Thailand, a quick stop in Laos. Her life was not lacking for adventure or a story to tell. If you were so blessed to hear the stories, you certainly would remember them today as they were truly remarkable. In addition to being a Mother of three children, a military wife, world traveler, and a card-carrying CIA member, Patricia always found time to give her heart. God called on her to live an unselfish life. She was a dedicated caregiver to family members throughout the years. She would give even if it hurt. From her grandmother to her son, Patricia proudly took the role and I believe it pleased her and God. Patricia had an uncanny ability to coexist with animals of all kinds. When she lived in Udon, Thailand, she adopted an orphaned bear and raised it along side two of her children. She always had dogs, shepherds and poodles. There were many through the years. Phoebe, Toby, Mickey, Moses, Jude, and David to name a few. Several of them will be accompanying her on this journey. Above all, Patricia was kind and supportive to everyone. She had friends all across the United States, from Maryland to California, from her high school friends to her grandchildren's friends. She will be missed by all who met her. There will be a big reunion in Heaven. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Elizabeth, her husband, Nicholas Burke, her siblings, Elizabeth Ann Smith (sister), Bill Herring (brother), Susie Rochester (sister), and Billy Burke (son). Patricia is survived by her daughter, Kathy Austin, her son, Arthur Burke and daughter-in-law, Pamela Burke. Her grandchildren, TJ Austin, Jennifer Hermann (Austin) and AJ Hermann, Chandler Burke, and her Great Grandchildren, Aliyah Austin, Emily Austin and Juliet Stewart. Services will be held at Faith Chapel located on Beverly Parkway followed by interment at Barrancas National Cemetery where Patricia will be reunited with Nick and Billy Please join us Tuesday, January 9, 2024 for a remembrance of a life worth living.
