Nancy Kay Davison Levi

Nancy Kay Levi, 90, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away under hospice care. Nancy, a longtime resident of the city’s north side, was born in Omaha, Nebraska on November 16, 1934. She was the only child of Russell and Edna Davidson, who divorced soon after Nancy was born. Russell moved to California and remarried Miss Carlisle, who raised Nancy as her own. During her junior year at Sequoia High School in Redwood City, California, Nancy met Eldon J. Levi, the love of her life, on a blind date. They married on June 23, 1956, shortly after her graduation. Nancy then earned the humorous but well-deserved title of “PHT” (Put Hubby Through), working in office jobs while Eldon completed his college degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Management. His career path led them to Pensacola in 1970. Nancy also assisted her husband to at least 30 competitive dives in California. She also did at least 300 running events across the United States. Nancy was an accomplished knitter and quilter making both wearable gifts and bedcovers. She had a special passion for dancing. Upon hearing a good tune, she would often display some great dance moves. Besides being a great homemaker, she took joy in taking care of Eldon and the many critters he brought home. These included lambs, piglets, and chickens. A civic-minded person, Nancy volunteered for 6 years at West Florida Hospital. She was an easygoing and cheerful woman who was both a great hostess and a ready adventurer, whether it was hosting a dinner party for friends or heading to Puertecitos, Mexico for their honeymoon. In retirement, Nancy loved spending many fun-filled summers with Eldon in Montana. Eldon called her “My Nancy”. In May of this year, they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary! Eldon could not have done what he did without “My Nancy”. All those who are left behind will miss her terribly. There is now a Nancy-sized hole in the universe. Nancy is survived by husband, Eldon Levi; son, Darren D. (Lisa) Levi; grandson, Cian; and sister-in-law, Wanda Beck from Fresno, California. Darren, an accomplished carpenter, called her “the best Mom ever”. Nancy was Eldon and Darren’s navigator and “side kick” during several adventurous rides across Mexico and the 1000-mile drive down to Baja and back. Nancy greatly appreciated her speech pathologist, Amanda, who spent many hours with her while in Assisted Living. Finally, Nancy and Eldon made many friends during the decades spent in the Pensacola area. They were like family to her, Steve and Joanne Foss, Tom and Fran Heitmuller, Fred and Barbara Genthner, Courtney and Jim Winstead, Diane and Terry Hollister, and Jim Woods, and Mel and Joan Odemar. Sadly, Jim Winstead and Rose Ivy are no longer with us. To the funeral attendees, please do not dress up. Come dressed in a running shirt or a Hawaiian shirt. “Night Night My Nancy, where ever you are. I will join you sometime. Love forever, Eldon”
