Mildred Louise Bennett

Mildred Louise Ferreira Bennett, age 85, peacefully went to be with her Heavenly Father on July 27, 2025. Born on December 6, 1939, in Charlotte, North Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of Raymond Miller and Vera Alice Ferreira. Mildred’s family moved to Pensacola, Florida when she was a child—a place that quickly became home. She attended Pensacola High School and worked at Delchamps grocery store, embodying both hard work and hospitality from an early age. In a beautiful love story marked by faith and devotion, Mildred met James Bennett, the love of her life, on Labor Day in 1959. They were married that November and shared 46 beautiful years together until James was called home to be with the Lord in 2006. Their marriage was built on love, strength, and service. More than anything, Mildred treasured her role as a wife and mother. It was not only her greatest joy—it was her proudest accomplishment. As a Navy wife, Mildred lived in Norfolk, Virginia and Park Forest, Illinois, yet always held Pensacola close to her heart—eventually retiring there with James and planting their roots in faith and community. Mildred cherished time spent catching up with friends and family. She was a loving Sister, Mother, Nana, Aunt, and cherished friend to many. She had a passion for cooking, baking and hosting friends and family as she brought loved ones together for many family gatherings. Her hospitality was an extension of her generous heart. Mildred lived a life full of service and kindness. She was an active member of Ensley Church of the Nazarene, where she faithfully served in the church kitchen and alongside James in property maintenance. Her dedication to God, her family, and her church community left a legacy that will never fade. Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Bennett; her parents, Raymond Miller and Vera Ferreira; her brother, Raymond (Joy) Ferreira; and her “sister by choice,” Madle Weeks. She is survived by her siblings, Herbert (Lil) Ferreira, Kathy (Bill) Boyd, and Jane (Clarence) Hall; her four children, Roland (Patsy) Bennett, Brenda Woolum, Debbie (Adam) Pugh, and John (Kristine) Bennett; 11 grandchildren: Jeffery (Jennifer) Bennett, Cheryl (Eric) Sturgeon, Joshua Bennett, Jared Bennett, Kristin (Adam) Cabana, Courtney (Adam) Reed, Summer (Brandon) Tucker, Morgan (Alex) Aubrey, James “Jimmy” Johnson, Annie (Paul) Stauffer, and Nikole Bennett; 20 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews—all dearly loved. Pallbearers will be James “Jimmy” Johnson, Jeff Bennett, Joshua Bennett, Jared Bennett, Adam Reed, and Adam Cabana. Mildred’s legacy of love, service, and steadfast faith lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her warmth, kindness, sense of humor, and the joy she brought to so many lives. A visitation will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home (100 Beverly Pkwy, Pensacola, Florida) on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 10:00am. until the service begins at 11:00am, with Rev. Josh Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Bayview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish to donate, please consider; St. Jude Children's Hospital.
