Michael Raymond Young

Michael Raymond Young, CFO of Emerald Coast Association of Realtors and Pensacola native, died unexpectedly on March 9th, 2019 at the age of 55. Mike is survived by his Mother, Jacqueline Young; his wife Antoinette and their children, Ian and Isabella (Bella); his brother Brian (Tanya) and nephews Austin & Nolan; nieces McKenna & Emily. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Christa Ward, sister-in-law Susanne Beaty, Uncle Harley, Uncle Ernest (Nancy) and many cousins and their families. Mike is predeceased by his father, Raymond Young, his father-in-law Anthony Ward and his grandparents. Mike was born September 22nd, 1963 to Raymond & Jacqueline Young. He grew up in Pensacola, attending Ensley Elementary, Brentwood Middle and Woodham High. Mike graduated from UWF with a degree in Finance and attained his MBA from WKU. He was the CFO at ECAR and will miss all of his colleagues dearly. Whilst in the Navy, Mike was awarded the SW Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, National Defense Medal and Navy Achievement Medal. Mike was a devoted & beloved father to his children, and will be sorely missed by us! Mike acquired Stalking the Wild Asparagus during his younger years and would forage for food bringing home bags of what he proclaimed edible for dinner. He found Navy Survival training fun because he knew so many wild foods. Even later in life, Mike loved growing anything which was even remotely edible. Mike had a lifelong enjoyment of the odd and unusual. He fermented strange stuff in the kitchen that he swore tasted good and would convince us to try. Despite his military background, he was most comfortable in a Guy Harvey T shirt, flip-flops & sunglasses. Even happier with a fishing pole and a fresh caught fish to filet. Mike was a voracious reader and total computer geek! He was very artistic, with his largest project being a mural in the Woodham High School cafeteria which he completed with his art buddies. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 28th @ 1:30pm at Barrancas Cemetery; we invite family and friends to join us afterwards between 3-6pm at our home. A heartfelt thankyou to West Florida Hospital and EMS for their excellent & loving care! And thank you to all our incredible friends and neighbors for all you have done and continue to do. My children and I have no words for your compassion and generosity! SAUDADE MIKE!!
