Matthew Gordon Bennett, Sr., 48 years old of Pensacola, FL went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, December 12, 2012. Matthew was born in Atlanta, GA but lived in Pensacola, FL most of his life. Matthew was a heavy equipment mechanic for many years at Clark Sand Company working side by side with his best buddy, Gordon Lee Bennett. Matthew was a heavy equipment mechanic for the past twelve years with Gulf Atlantic Construction. Matthew is now resting in the arms of Jesus. Matthew was blessed with the talent of writing poetry and now he is sharing his wonderful words with all his loved ones who are in heaven. Matthew was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Lee Bennett; sister, Charolett Laudermilk and niece Bennett. Matthew is survived by his son, Matthew Gordon Bennett, Jr. (Teresa) of Pensacola, FL; former wife, Anita N. Bennett of Pensacola, FL; mother, Wanda Tindal (Alvin) of N.C.; stepmother, Grace Bennett of Pensacola, FL; brothers, Mike Irwin of N.C., Mark Bennett Sr. (Becky) of Indiana, Scott Bennett of GA, Ken Cooper (Marie) of N.C. and Richard Goolsby of Pensacola, FL; sisters, Pam Irwin of N.C., Brenda Tucker of Cantonment, FL, Donna Thompson of GA, Karen Ward (Gary) of N.C., Denise Krieger of Kentucky, Terry Bennett of GA and Debbie Bennett of GA; two best friends, Brian Mitchell of Pensacola, FL and Cornell Watson of Pensacola, FL; special stepson, R.J. Beasley of TX; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Matt you touched the life of so many with your kindness, you will be greatly missed, but you will never be forgotten as you look down from Heaven at your loved ones you left behind your saying to your son you make me proud son. Go Rest High on That Mountain till we meet again. Viewing for family and friends will be on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Assembly of God Cemetery with Reverend Ronald McGlothern officiating. Pallbearers will be Cornell Watson, Chad Foster, Ed Morrison, Mike Douglas, Jose Hernandez and George Harrison.
