Marshall Wyatt Fant

Marshall Wyatt Fant, of Molino, Florida is a Christian and went home to be with our heavenly Father on May 3, 2021, at the young age of 85. He was born in Marshall, Texas on May 28, 1935. He graduated in Class of 1953 at Ida High School in Louisiana. He has been a member of Highland Baptist Church since he and wife, Shirley Ann, moved to Molino in 1960. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Davis and Eva Fant; brothers Henry Doyle Fant and C.D. Fant, sister Martha Fant Terry, son Marshall Stanley Fant, and son-in-law Daniel Griffith. He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Fant; sister Mary Enfinger; brother John Fant (Faye); children Karen Griffith, Mickey Fant, Ronny Fant, Marsha Frierson (Terral), Marshalla Thompson (George), and Preston Fant (Cathy). He is survived by 16 grandchildren: Thomas Lee (Heather), Brian Lee, Jeremy Griffith (Jennifer), Erika Plummer (Dean), Jerry Jones (Crystal), Rodney Jones, Michael Pettis (Megan), Elec Pettis Sr. (Katheryn), Chase Fant, Tanner Fant, Sky Thompson, Marshall Thompson, Noah Fant, Hannah Fant, Kiara Thompson, and Aaliyah Thompson; and 19 great-grandchildren. He and Shirley married in 1955 and have been married for 66 years and raised 7 children. He worked for Texas & Pacific Railroad and then was a truck driver for many companies until he retired. During his time as a trucker, he owned and operated his own truck for many years and enjoyed seeing America. He made work fun. He enjoyed many activities including golf, insulators, date nails, coins, baseball cards, watching baseball, pitching horse shoes, and country life. One of his past-times over the last 10 to 15 years was karaoke. He would drive anywhere, anytime to sing a song. He recorded nearly 2,000 songs under the user name Boxcar and would also sing happy birthday to family members. He played several sports in high school, and continued to play many years after. In the 1960’s he was especially happy that he made a local team and was their catcher. He was a kind and generous man who enjoyed life to the fullest. He would help anytime he saw someone in need. He even gave his only pair of glasses to a friend who needed them. He truly had a way to make every person he was around feel like they were special. One of his other favorite things to do was helping others enjoy Lake Stanley — the lake he and Shirley had built on their land. He singlehandedly built many fishing piers so people would have a better fishing experience. Above all he loved his family and friends. When he met a stranger it wasn’t long until they were fast friends. He truly modeled Matthew 25:40: “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Services for Marshall will be held at Faith Chapel North on Monday, May 10, 2021: Family visitation at 12:30 pm, guest visitation at 1:00 pm, funeral service at 2:00 pm to be officiated by Reverend Dennis Terry. Pallbearers: Thomas Lee, Jeremy Griffith, Elec Pettis Sr., Tanner Fant, Marshall Thompson, and Noah Fant. Honorary pallbearers: Brian Lee, Michael Pettis, Chase Fant, Ethan Terry, and Nolan Terry.
