Marjorie L. Reasons McNair

Marjorie Leo Reasons McNair was born on Christmas Day 1921 to Frazer and Ollie Reasons of Humboldt, TN, and went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Hines Drew McNair; her sister, Janie Darnell; her sister-in-law, Beth Davy; her three children, Karla Summerford (Neal), Cheri’ Miller (Alan), Russ McNair (Denise); her seven grandsons, Mitchell Gardner (Ellen), Rusty McNair (Nikki), Brandon McNair, Rhett Summerford (Heather), Jonathan “Ryan” McNair (Maria), Wesley Summerford, Andrew McNair; and her seven great grandchildren, Dawson, Ethan, Davis, Drew, Lyla, Cooper, Laila. “Margie” graduated from Humboldt High School in Humboldt, TN and received her business degree from Jackson Business College in Jackson, TN. While visiting relatives in Pensacola, she met Hines, a Navy Chief Petty Officer, and they married on May 2, 1947. As a military spouse, Margie supported her husband through 30 years in the United States Navy, traveling extensively from Hawaii to Maine. She moved her family from duty station to duty station running the household and dealing with the strain of numerous deployments during Hines’ career. Her unconditional love, along with an appropriate mixture of firmness, made the perfect example of a wonderful Christian Mother. She had an endless and enduring love for her husband and children that will comfort and sustain them forever. Margie was a strong woman of faith and loved her church families. She and Hines were members of Whitfield Baptist Church during their military years and once retired became faithful members of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church. She loved her “Joy” Sunday school class and the “Keenagers” group at Myrtle Grove. Margie and Hines were on the planning committee for many years, organizing the mission projects and trips for the group. Margie loved people in the community as well as those in her church. She was active in the local Homemakers organization, the ladies golf club, and several bridge groups. She was a beautiful woman full of energy, with an incredible attitude, and a smile for everyone she met. No words can express how much she will be missed. The family would like to thank church members, community friends and the doctors, nurses, and staff of West Florida Hospital, Medical Center, and Covenant Hospice for their love, concern, and compassionate care. Visitation will be on Friday, May 24, 2013, from 10 to 11 am at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church with funeral services to follow. Dr. Alton Butler, Reverend David Rogers, and Reverend Ron Pouliot will be officiating. A graveside service will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at Naval Air Station Pensacola. Active pallbearers will be her seven grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the “Joy” Sunday school class and the Homemakers.
