Mario J. Fracchia

On Thursday, 26 November 2015 our Lord welcomed our Dad into Everlasting Life. He will now be with the love of his life, his wife Mary, who preceded him in death. He was born in St. Louis, Mo. July 31, 1929 to John and Stella Fracchia. He graduated Christian Brothers Military High School, Clayton, Missouri in 1947. He studied civil engineering at Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla, Missouri before serving in the Air Force during the Korean War. He is a Registered Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor in several states. He is a Fellow in the American Society of Civil Engineers and past president of the Gulf Coast Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society. His local accomplishments are managing the design and construction of the Perdido Land Fill, in charge of the assessment for the purchase of the sewer and water systems for the forming of the Escambia County Utilities Authority, and he successfully obtained Federal grants and loans for the design and construction supplying water to Perdido Key, Gulf Beach Highway, and Innerarity Point. His wife of 61 years, Mary, and his parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his twin children, Christine and Alexander in Warner Robins, Georgia and by his sister, Eleanor Venezia, of Washington, D. C. His hobbies and passions were traveling with his wife on cruises and a trip to Hawaii. He also enjoyed hunting, canoeing Ozark streams, and SCUBA diving. In addition he enjoyed riding hunter jumpers with his wife. He earned his private pilot certificate in the late 1970s. He especially enjoyed Cowboy style shooting and most of all his association with the Panhandle Cowboys. He was a member of St. Anne parish since 1973, ran a booth for the Round Up, and was a member of the Holy Name Society until his health deteriorated. Pallbearers will be the Panhandle Cowboys and honorary pallbearers will be Oscar Pitman and Zearl Lancaster. Visitation will be Thursday, December 3 from 5 PM until 7PM at Faith Chapel, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola. The funeral Mass will be at 12:30PM on Friday, December 5 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 5200 Saufley Field Rd. followed by burial at Barrancas National Cemetery.
