Marilyn R. Rice

Marilyn Rice, 85 of Pensacola, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, March 5, 2015. Her relationship with God as her Lord and Savior confirms that this is truly a time of rejoicing. Though we will miss her dearly, fellow believers rejoice with her over this glorious change of address! Marilyn was born in Kinston, Alabama and lived most of her life in Pensacola. She owned and operated Marilyn’s Beauty Shop in Navy Point for 23 years before moving to Myrtle Grove in 1980. She was a member of Campus Church at Pensacola Christian College. Marilyn leaves her family to cherish her memory. Those counting it a privilege to have been a part of her life are: her devoted husband of 42 years, Bill Rice; a daughter, Terri Long of Pensacola; a son, Kevin Williams (Terri) of Gulf Shores; a son, Steve Rice (Nancy) of Huntsville, Alabama and a son, Bart Rice of California. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Trisha Hollings (Jeff), Jessica Long, Jenny Long, Joshua Long (Amber), Lauren Williams (Jay), David Rice; an Honorary granddaughter, Sarah Hayes; ten great-grandchildren, who all counted it a great privilege to call her their own. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, Gramma, and Meme. Generous and sensitive, she was always attentive to the needs of her family and her many friends. It was apparent why our mother had so many friends. She truly knew how to be a friend! She had a special way of noticing and befriending those who really needed someone to care. She made a lasting impact on the lives of all who were blessed enough to know her. Whether she was baking a casserole or a cake, sending a card or a note of encouragement, emailing a prayer request or visiting a sick friend, our mother sought ways to minister creatively to the needs of others. The Celebration of her life will be held at Rawson Chapel, on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Denis McBride officiating and assisting will be Josh Burdick.
