Marie Catherine Cook

Marie Catherine Cook, 90, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away May 6, 2025. She was born in Perryville, Missouri on March 29, 1935, to Charles Fred Merideth and Alivna Scherer. She worked as a Food Service Distributor in Escambia County for more than twenty years before retiring. She was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church for many years where she taught CCD and guided children as they built and strengthened their relationship with God. In later years, she found peace becoming a member at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. She enjoyed attending the weekly prayer meetings with other members and became known as one of “Steve’s Daisies”. She found the most joy when she was with her family. She had a nurturing, compassionate heart and cared deeply for her family and loved ones. She was incredibly supportive in whatever endeavors her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were passionate about. She gave all of herself to her family and allowed her love to wash over them. She was very present in the lives of her grandchildren, encouraging and cheering them on at countless sports events, plays, award ceremonies and Bingo fun. Her warm, caring and compassionate heart allowed her to be a great support for others during both the happiest and hardest moments of their life. She always provided a safe space for everyone around her. She loved experiencing life, having fun and enjoying her time with the people that she was sharing space with at that moment. Her bright smile and laughter filled so many hearts and will continue to shine down upon us. She loved to laugh and dance creating timeless memories. She never felt that material possessions in life were what was important, it was always the love and unity of family. She was a beautiful role model for all as she moved through her life not trying to be perfect but simply trying. Trying always to love deeper, listen closer, grow continuously and strengthening her relationship with those around her and God. She was proceeded in death by her parents and four brothers whom she loved and missed deeply. She is survived by her two daughters Laura Cook and Mary Kepfer. She leaves her legacy to six grandchildren, two grandson-in-laws and seventeen great grandchildren whom she loved deeply.
