Margaret Estelle Padgett

Margaret Estelle Kelly Padgett, born July 9, 1937, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023. “Margie” was born and raised in Suitland, Maryland. After graduating from Suitland High School, she worked for a time in an insurance company. She married Joseph Kelly in 1961 and was a stay-at-home mom for many years, which she loved. When the family moved to Westminster, Maryland, she was an active member at Church of the Open Door and enjoyed serving there in a variety of ways, especially with the Super 60’s senior citizen group. She also drove a school bus for six years and enjoyed getting to know the students. The family moved to Pensacola, Florida in December 1992, where she attended the Campus Church. After her first husband’s passing in 2001, she remained in Pensacola until 2014, when she moved to Gallatin, Tennessee for a year before returning to Pensacola. She married Charlie Padgett in March 2015, and they enjoyed traveling and being active with their Sunday School class. She loved her Saviour first, her family, and helping others, and that is the legacy for which she always hoped. Margie is preceded in death by her parents, Elzie Milton Brightwell and Inez Marie Brightwell; first husband Joseph Wendell Kelly; daughter-in-law, Thanea Martin Kelly; and sister-in-law, Delores Brightwell. She is survived by her husband, Clyde Charles Padgett; brother, Elzie Milton “Tom” Brightwell; son, Warren Kelly (Montgomery and Ian); daughter, Sarah Kelly; stepchildren, Natalie Padgett Chism (Rich), Alicia Padgett Pritchett (Mike), Michael Padgett (Jackie); step-grandchildren, Dustin Padgett, Mathyas Padgett, Nathaniel Padgett, Connor Padgett, Austin Pritchett, Hannah Chism, Josh Chism, and Olivia Chism; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation services for Margaret Estelle Kelly Padgett will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at the Mullinex Chapel at Pensacola Christian College on Rawson Lane. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Joshua Burdick officiating. A committal service will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
