Colon M. Edwards

Colon “Ron” Edwards passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the age of 68. He was born in Mobile, AL on January 6, 1951. Ron graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Master’s degree in Education. Ron started working for the Veteran’s Administration in 1980 and retired after 34 years of dedicated service. He was the supervisor of the medical laboratory. Before working at the Veteran’s Administration, he worked as a phlebotomist at Singing River Hospital for 7 years. He was a Free Mason and a Shriner. Ron was very dedicated to his Christian life also. He grew up in St. John’s Episcopal Church in Pascagoula Mississippi throughout his teenage years. While a member of St. John’s, Ron attended several medical mission trips to Honduras. When he moved to Pensacola in 1996, he joined Holy Cross Episcopal Church. There, he served in many positions including vestry, choir, and Eucharistic visitor. He met the love of his life, Barbara, at church and married her in 2012. They shared many loving and fun years together, welcoming a host of friends into their life and home during this time. Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Edwards. He was also preceded in death by his parents Herman “Jake” Edwards and Dixie Edwards. He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Barbara Edwards; his stepsons, Jason (Christina) Ternon of Pensacola, and Erik (Kyle) Ternon of New York, NY. He also leaves his brothers Kerry (Debra) and Gary (Toni) Edwards of Pascagoula, MS. his uncle, Raymond (Pearl) Edwards of Mobile, AL; nephew, Derek (Jessica) Edwards of Ocean Springs, MS.; nieces, Jessica Davis of Escatawpa, MS. and Delanie Edwards of Pascagoula, MS. The memorial service, officiated by the Reverend Rob Dixon, will be on Saturday, January 19 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 7979 N. 9th Avenue in Pensacola, FL. A private inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron’s memory to Holy Cross Episcopal Church for a memorial fund.
