Leonard Edward Rafsky

Today we celebrate the life of Leonard Edward Rafsky, age 80 who passed away peacefully on August 20, 2023. He was the husband of his loving wife Gloria Rafsky and shared 52 years of marriage together. Leonard was born in Paterson, NJ. He was the son of Sidney and Susan Rafsky. He graduated from Miami Beach High School and proudly joined the United States Navy on September 21, 1961. He proudly served an honorable 28 years in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Medical Corpsman. He served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded numerous medals during his service to his country. He retired on February 28, 1990 at the rank of Senior Chief. Leonard earned his Associates of Arts degree at the University of South Carolina while raising his family and was a huge Gamecocks fan. He always strived for higher learning and his knowledge in a vast number of subjects was amazing. He was always known by his family as the "King of Jeopardy" when it came to watching his favorite game shows at home. He always loved spending quality time with his family. His favorite hobbies included fishing, crabbing, shrimping and most of all, spending plenty of quality time with his wife Gloria. Leonard was of Catholic faith and had attended Saint Anne's Catholic Church with his wife and family for many years. He was known as "Honey Coo" to his loving wife Gloria, "Yoi Yoi" to all his grandkids and Senior Chief "Ski" and "Doc" to all his shipmates. He will truly be loved and missed by his wife, kids, grandkids, extended family, and friends. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Rafsky, his children - May Urso (Cardo), Miguel Rafsky (Rebecca) and David Rafsky (Michele), his grandchildren - Lauren Urso, Dominic Urso, Tiffany Rafsky, Anthony Rafsky, Brandon Rafsky (Laura) and Noah Rafsky. Visitation Service will be at 11:00am until 12:00pm, Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South (100 Beverly Pkwy, Pensacola, Florida 32505). Funeral Service will be at 12:00pm with Chaplain David Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
