Leilia Morton Vannoy

Leilia Morton Vannoy, a native of Elberta, Alabama and a resident of Pensacola and Seminole, Alabama passed away December 5, 2023 at the age of 74. She was predeceased by her husband, James Charles “Charley” Vannoy and her parents, Roy R. and Gertrude Mueller Morton. Leilia is survived by her stepsons, Gregory Vannoy (Alex) and Todd Vannoy (Ashley); Granddaughter, Danielle Vannoy Mullet (Spencer); Grandson, Tristan Vannoy; Great-granddaughter, Reese Mullet; her sister, Nancy Morton Price (Ramon); nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Leilia attended Pensacola Junior College and worked for a number of years as a bookkeeper. She was a loving and supportive wife to her husband Charley, the founder of Vannoy Tires. She loved her family and extended family,was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews and their children, and was always involved in special events in their lives. Leilia was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Pensacola for 35 years. She and Charley were active participants in the work, worship, and fellowship of Trinity. Leilia served terms as Elder and chaired the Service Team for several years helping spearhead groups to help for Habitat for Humanity, Manna Food Bank, The Blood Mobile, Relay for Life, United Ministries, Favor House, Ronald McDonald House, and several other local missions and ministries on behalf of Trinity. She was a member of Presbyterian Women, a beloved member of the Chocolate Lover’s Women’s Bible Study, Treasurer of the Presbyterian Women Retreat Teams, and volunteered in the church office. In leadership roles or as a team member, she was always an advocate for people in the community who needed help, whatever their circumstances. Leilia was a special friend and a wise counsel to many in her church family and was happiest spending time with her family and the people she loved. She enjoyed genealogy as a hobby and through her extensive research, became a member of Daughters of the American Revolution. The family would like to recognize and express appreciation to the caregiving staff at Inspiritas of Pensacola and Emerald Coast Hospice for their compassionate care at the end of her life. A memorial service will be held Friday, December 8 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Presbyterian Church, followed by a reception in the church parlor. The service will be preceded by a private interment at Holy Cross Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice.
