Larry Andre Leveron

Our beloved Larry A. Leveron died after a long battle with pancreatic cancer on July 16, 2019 in Milton, Florida. He came into the world on May 23, 1955 to Clarence and Ida Mae Leveron. From his birth until his death, he left a memorable, lasting impact on those he encountered. His lifetime hobbies included building models, firearms shooting and collecting, and being in nature; all which he readily shared his knowledge with others. He enjoyed cooking, baking cookies and breads, tending his vegetable garden and fruit trees, feeding humming birds, and walks with his constant Shiba Inu companion, Rowdy. While attending the Hazelton United Methodist Church with family, he fondly remembered listening to the Hundred Christian Soldiers Hymn, which started a lifetime interest of serving and protecting others. Larry started his 35-year Law Enforcement Career as a Military Policeman with the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division, where he worked as a Criminal Investigator. After serving with the U.S. Army, he attended Indiana State University at Evansville and University of Evansville obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a minor in Criminal Justice. Larry was a member of the Vanderburg Sheriffs' Department before becoming a Special Agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration, DEA. During his 21 years with the DEA, Larry was assigned to the Southern Border in San Diego, California before becoming an advisor with "Operation Snowcap" where he worked as a mentor/administrator with the National Police of Costa Rica, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Colombia. Throughout his career, he received numerous awards from many South American countries, including Colombia's highest Civilian Award, for his services while working with the famed Colombian National Police Commandos also known as "Junglas." In addition, Larry served as the San Diego Division Training Coordinator and Firearms and Tactical Instructor at the FBI/DEA Training Academy in Quantico, Virginia. After retiring from the DEA, Larry worked as a Law Enforcement Professional in Afghanistan, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, and Honduras. Larry also served as Law Enforcement Adviser on Counter-Insurgency for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. Larry is a member of the American Legion and the Sons of the American Revolution. He enjoyed working with real life heroes who did what they could to make this world a better place. He never forgot these heroes who went before him by always having a place set for them at his table. Larry is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Candi, three children Troy, Matthew, and Taylor, and two sisters Brenda and Donna. A Memorial service will be held at the Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, Cantonment, Florida on Saturday, July 20th at 10 am with inurnment at the Hazleton Methodist Church in Hazleton, Indiana at a later date. The Leveron family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff of Regency Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
