Katie Lou Simmons Bell Nell

Katie Lou Simmons Bell Nell (Kitty, Grandma, Great Grandma Kitty Cat) passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior Tuesday, November 6, 2018. She was born in Bascom, Florida to her loving parents, the late Rex O. and Emma Lou Simmons on September 28, 1930. She married the Late James L. Bell Jr. at age 16, moved to Pensacola, Florida and birthed 7 children, Laura Jane Snyder, James Lee Bell III (Martha), Rex Ronald Bell Sr. (Wanda), Linda Lou Matthews (Bain), Donald Robert Bell, Lisa Faye Newton (Jim), and Katherine Lynn Bell. She was preceded in death by her precious son, Donald Robert Bell, her brothers, Oakley, Byron and Gaston Simmons, her Sisters, Willy Audrey Williams, Hilda Eubanks, and Imogene (Jean) Diffin. Loretta Faye Nott is her youngest and only surviving sibling. Katie was always busy! She was a powerhouse of energy and the consummate worker bee! She was the owner and bookkeeper of four businesses. (Navy Realty, Southern Bell Electric, American General Construction and Warrington Autolec. She was a 3rd grade Sunday school teacher (40 years Warrington Baptist Church), a Cub Scout Den Mother, Political Campaign Manager, Master Chef, Seamstress, Medical Assistant, Party Planner and Caretaker of her beloved 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She loved her large family and her family loved her and will always cherish her memory. Later in life she married her love, Walter W. Nell and adopted another large family (The Nell Clan). Walter and Katie were married for 18 years prior to Walter’s passing. Katie’s legacy follows her. She loved Jesus with all her heart, and loved others as herself, just as her Lord commanded. She was a diligent student of the Word of God and prayed by name for all her children (spouses), grandchildren (spouses) and great grandchildren each day. She has entered her Eternal Rest and has heard the words of her Lord, “well done thou good and faithful servant!” Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. in The Point Church Sanctuary, located at 13801 Innerarity Point Road, Pensacola, FL 32507. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. Mother loved flowers and they are allowed; however, she loved her church more. So, in lieu of flowers, you may contribute to The Point Church, designating the gift in honor of Katie Bell Nell.
