Karen Ann Holland

Karen Ann Rawlins Holland was born on October 2, 1933 in Tuscaloosa, AL to Willie Clarence Rawlins and Linda Kay Rawlins. Karen was the youngest of eight children; Frances Kizziah (Bryant) deceased, Robert Rawlins (Mary Tee) deceased, William Rawlins (Mildred) deceased, James "Slick" Rawlins (Wanda) deceased, Ann Smith (Charles) deceased, Ruth Kizziah (Junior) deceased, and Louis Rawlins (Mary Ann) deceased. Karen, her parents and twin siblings Ruth and Louis moved to Pensacola FL when she was 7 or 8 years old. Karen was a member of The Salvation Army Life Saving Guard ( a service organization similar to the Scouts) in her adolescence. She attended Pensacola High School. While at a "Saturday Show" at the Rex Theater (Downtown Pensacola) with a girlfriend she met the love of her life, Harvey Holland. Harvey and Karen were married July 7, 1951. The couple had two children Debra Ann and Harvey "Rickey" Holland. Karen was very busy as a wife and mother. She worked at The Papermill and then Monsanto-Chemstrand for ten years. While there she made many lifelong friends. At the age of 35, Karen attended Jordan Street Assembly of God and her life changed forever. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. From that day forward Karen was a dedicated member of various churches. She was known as a woman of great Faith and was a dedicated prayer warrior. Her Faith sustained her through many of life's sorrows. Karen was predeceased by her parents, siblings, husband and daughter. She is survived by her son, Rickey Holland (Julia) and her grandchildren, Tanya "Renee" Baughman (Scott), John Austin Martin Jr. (Lori), April Michelle Ellis and Matthew Rickey Holland. Karen has seven great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that brought her great joy throughout her life. She will be greatly missed but we know that she is in a better place and we will reunite with her one day. Visitation will be Monday, January 11, 2021 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Graveside service will be Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Holy Cross Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME SOUTH, 100 Beverly Pkwy is entrusted with the arrangements.
