Karen Kay Archer

Karen K. Archer, 82, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023. She was born in Madrid, Nebraska on May 1, 1941 to Francis and Alta Bullock. She was married to Leon M. Archer for 39 years. Karen worked various jobs as she moved with her husband, Leon (more affectionately known as Archie or Mo) to several duty stations while he was in the Air Force. Upon his retirement, they moved to Pensacola, Florida, where they finished raising their children. Karen and Archie moved to Corpus Christi, Texas for several years working civil service jobs. They then moved back to Pensacola. Karen worked in the food service industry while in Corpus Christi and continued to do so upon returning to Pensacola. She worked at Oscars, an iconic restaurant in Pensacola, for several years before finally deciding to retire. Karen enjoyed bowling, fishing, walking the beach looking for coins, and playing bingo. She eventually moved in with her daughter, Becky and her husband, and delighted in watching the birds and squirrels flit about the yard. Karen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed by many. A special thanks to the staff at Grandview Retirement Center, as well as Vitas Healthcare for her hospice care nurses and aids. Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Alta Bullock; husband, Leon M. Archer; sisters, Margery Stivers, Margarett Havens, Frances Recek, Dorothy Landis, Betty Hamilton, Joan Simanek; and brother, Ronald Bullock. She is survived by her daughter, Becky O’Sullivan (Brian); son, Ronald Archer (Olivia); granddaughter, Brittany Bennett; grandsons, Andre and Marcus Archer; step-grandchildren, Daniel and Julia O’Sullivan; and several sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial visitation will be held, Saturday, November 11, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, Florida is entrusted with arrangements.
