Joyce D Pierson

After a short battle with lung cancer, our beloved Joyce went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 23, 2020. She was born in Lanett, Alabama on June 13, 1928 to Grady and Myrtle Daughtry. ln 1944 she met the love of her life, Thomas (Tom) Kelsey Pierson, Sr., and they were married on January 6, 1945. They celebrated 61 years together before Tom passed away, and were blessed with two loving sons, Tommy and Richard. Tom and Joyce had an optical shop for many years in Montgomery Ward, until the store closure. Their sons also worked with the family business as opticians. After closing their business, Tom and Joyce retired and spent their time travelling and being faithful servants of East Brent Baptist Church for many, many years. Joyce relocated to Melboume, Florida, with Richard and his family in 2015. She lived in Crane Creek Senior Apartments where she was very active in organizing social events for the residents whom she dearly loved. She also continued to serve her Lord and Savior as a member of Central Baptist Church of Melbourne. Going home before her was her husband Tom, her son Tommy, parents Grady and Myrtle Daughtry and sisters Ernestine Garner and Betty Pruitt. Left to cherish many precious memories of Joyce are her son, Richard (Evelyn) Pierson, her brother Eugene (Dorothy) Daughtry: grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Wassman, Vanessa Pierson, Skyler Pierson, Jeff Pierson, and Kevin (Amber) Pierson, great-grandchildren are Jozee & Johnny Wassman, Cole Oberst, Zaida & Ashton Weibley, Gavin Coone, Hunter, Autumn and Ryan Pierson. Nieces, Glenda Hogg, Sharon Schuler, and Donna Scott and nephew, Paul Garner, Sr. Also, Connie Gossman and Sue Wilson and their families. Our family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the staff of the William Childs Hospice House for the compassion and wonderful care they provided for Joyce during her short stay there. We also would like to thank all of you who have expressed your out-pouring of love with prayers, words of encouragement, phone calls, cards, e-mails and texts! We will always remember your many acts of kindness during this time! Services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. and service at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Dale Patterson bringing the message. Burial will be at Pensacola Memorial Gardens immediately after the service.
