John Carroll Gavin

John Carroll Gavin, 93, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. John was proceeded in death by his parents, Cyrus Matthew Gavin and Amelia Elizabeth (Barrow) Gavin; his wife of 50 years, Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Delores (Coleman) Gavin; sisters, Wilma ‘Red’ aka Hannah Jonas, Zelda Brunnel, Marilyn Elizabeth and Joan ‘Joyce’ Jocelyn; brothers, Cyrus Waylon and Raymond Colledge; his best friend of over 70 years, Bill ‘Amos’ Spear, and a multitude of family members and friends (come on, he WAS ‘95’, according to John). He is survived by his son, John Steven ‘Sam’ Gavin, (Lois Ann); his daughter, Lisa Elaine Gavin (Rob Wacker); God son, David Yates; granddaughter, Kianna Yates Smith (Ryne), great grandchildren, Maisie and Liam Smith; his brothers, Norman Edward Gavin (Ann), Eudon Wilmer Gavin, and Dale Levant Gavin; multiple nieces and nephews; God-Family, Shane, Millie and Dalton Volesky; longtime friend, Peachy Keen, and an abundance of friends and loves ones. (If I missed anyone, please forgive me, I have been told I had the ‘old timers.) Lisa wishes to thank People’s Home Health caregivers, Ms. Jesse, nurses Jan and Land, PT Tony and Peoples Hospice and Palliative Care, for their compassion and professionalism, especially, Liaison JJ Roberts, nurses Samantha, Karen, Whitney and Candi, Aide Keairra, Social Worker Kalah, Chaplain Keith, Ms. Tricia, and volunteers. Words really cannot express the love and thanks I feel for Dave (“Thanks Dave”), Shane, Millie and Amy Hancock Danforth. I could not have made it through this life or this difficult chapter without you. Pallbearers will be David Yates, Shane Volesky, Curt Gavin, Ryne Smith, Bobby Edmunds, Dan Danforth.
