Jerry Westmoreland

Jerry Westmoreland (aka Hot), age 63, was born September 25, 1949 in Milwaukee, WI to Lucial and Leroy Westmoreland. Jerry transitioned on November 23, 2012. He was the oldest of six children. Jerry accepted Christ as his personal savior early in his youth at Zion Spring Missionary Baptist Church in Bruce, MS. Jerry graduated from Bruce High School in Bruce, MS. Jerry continued his education at Malcolm X College in Chicago, IL, where he received his Associate in Applied Science. To further his knowledge he attended Chicago State University as a political science major. Jerry had a passion for helping people and he left a piece of wisdom on every corner he turned. He started his own Labor Union for healthcare employees and he also ran for political office in Broadview, IL. Jerry was an outdoors man; he loved the sport of boating and fishing. Jerry is a veteran of the Vietnam and Desert Storm Wars, where he was awarded several medals. He retired from the Military after 20+ years of service as a Master Sergeant/E-8. While serving his country, Jerry worked as a lab technician at the VA hospital in Chicago, IL where he retired in 2002. One year later, Jerry and Jessie moved to Cantonment, FL to enjoy their retirement. Jerry leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 43 years, Jessie Faye Westmoreland; two children - Demetrius (Valerie) Westmoreland of Joliet, IL and, Gerald (Crystal) Westmoreland of Pensacola, FL. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Ivy, Brooke, Jada, Talisa, Tessie, Cameron and Shana; four brothers - Jimmy(Georgia) of Milwaukee,WI; Ira(Pearlie) of Jackson, MS; Billy Ray (Cleatrice) of Bruce,MS; and Willie J. (Lovie) of Bruce, MS and one twin sister - Geraldine of Oxford,MS; his mother-in-law Jessie Harper and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other dear relatives and friends. Lucial and Leroy Westmoreland preceded Jerry in death. Visitation will be Friday, November 30, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
