Jeffrey Louis Dykes, Sr.

Jeffrey Louis Dykes, Sr. was born and raised in the Pensacola area. He graduated from Escambia High School in 1979. He still had many close friends from his teen years, who loved him and referred to him as Jeff-Boy. Jeff was an outgoing, fun-loving, and hard working man, who never met a stranger. He always put his family and work first. He was determined to provide for his family, even if it meant having to work away from home. Although he spent a lot of time working out of town, he spent every minute he had at home with his wife and kids. He really loved coaching his boys and watching them play sports. He equally enjoyed spending time with friends, especially on karaoke nights. He did all this with the love of his life, Gina, by his side. He was the perfect example of a gentleman in their relationship. Jeff and Gina absolutely adored each other. Jeff always did the right thing. He knew it was important to show his kids and grandkids morals. At the young age of 19, he did what most young men would’ve never done, by taking on a ready-made family with 3 boys. He loved them like they were his own. Over the years his family grew to 7 boys and 19 grandkids. Jeff’s grand babies held a special place in his heart. They were the light of his life. Family was everything to Jeff….whether you were his blood or not. Jeff’s heart was big enough to love everyone. Although he left home and started his own family at a young age, he never lost touch with his parents. He still called his mom and dad weekly, even at 60 years old. In recent years, Jeff was a dedicated employee of West Fraser. He loved his position as a crane operator, especially because of the people he worked with. He was an active member of Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge. Jeff held the position of exalted ruler for 3 years. He really enjoyed helping the lodge raise money for the USO, Florida Kids Youth Camp, Florida Elks Mobile Therapy Service, and various other organizations. Everyone that knew Jeff, will feel a loss and emptiness in their lives. He is preceded in death by his brother, Claude Earl Dykes; son, Darrin Cody Dykes. He is survived by his wife, Gina Dykes; children, Jeff, Jr. (Courtney), Brandon (Karissa), Casey, Tony (Katrina), Tobie (Jennifer), T.J. (Crystal); and 19 beloved grandchildren; parents, Doug and Jeanette Dykes; brothers, Randall (Monica) and Rodney (Lois); “more than” in-laws, Ron and Sue Christian; brother-in-law, David Christian. Pallbearers will be Kenny Gramenz, Mike Zillen, Travis Dykes, Stephen Virts, Jacob Dykes, AC Jeter, Chris Jeter and James Coleman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Cook, Sr., Mike Cook, Jr., Douglas Dykes, Thomas Virts and Hubby Dykes. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jeff and Gina’s Go Fund Me account. Visitation will be held at Apostolic Life Church on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 9:30 – 10:30. The Service will immediately follow at 10:30. Reverend Mitchell will be officiating.
