James Edwards, 81 of Pensacola, Fl passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020. James was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Belton Edwards, Edna Viola (Campbell) Edwards, and his wife Charlotte Irene (Brock) Edwards. James Edwards was born on October 30,1938 in Yazoo, Mississippi. He joined the Air Force at an early age shortly after his parents were killed in an automobile accident. He served in the Air Force until 1964 as a fire fighter for the flight line. His last duty station was at Grissom Air Force Base near Kokomo Indiana, where he met the love of his life at the roller rink in 1957 - Charlotte Brock. The were married December 16, 1959, and had only know each other for a short time but it was love at first sight. He quickly found a job in Kokomo, Indiana as a welder, at Moon Fabrication and was able to build his family with Charlotte. They had 4 daughters, Pam, Vickie, Cathy, and Shirley. He loved building and remodeling race cars. We spent many Friday nights at the Kokomo Speedway. There was a time or two we found him actually driving the race car around the track! He and Charlotte to Pensacola, Florida in 1999. He enjoyed the warm weather, boating and fishing in the gulf with the family. This was always a good weekend for Dad. We spent many weekends at Fort McRae just hanging out on the boat. He is survived by his sister Shirley Cowan, his daughters Pamela Kay Edwards, Vickie Lynn Dash, Cathy Marie Hendrix (Billy), and the baby Shirley Dean Sells (Jason). He loved his daughters and then his grandchildren, the first to arrive were Thomas and Charlotte Pennington, Nicholas and Samantha Burleigh, Wesley and James Baker, and then Allan Dash. Grandpa and Grandma were blessed to have many great & great great grandchildren as well. The pall bearers will be grandson Thomas Pennington, grandson Nicholas Burleigh, grandson Wesley Baker, grandson Allan Dash, Steve Burleigh, and Billy Ray Hendrix. Visitation will be Thursday, September 3, 2020, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South. Funeral Services will follow at 9:30 AM. Pastor John Pavlus will be officiating. Interment will be at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, FL. FAITH CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME SOUTH, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, is entrusted with arrangements.
