Guy Norman Presley

Guy Norman Presley, 90, of Pensacola, Florida, entered the arms of Jesus on April 8, 2023, after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Guy was born in Gonzalez, Florida on August 20, 1932, to Millard Fillmore and Ruby Cornelia (McKenzie) Presley. He graduated from Tate High School in 1951 and from there, with his brother Henry by his side, joined the U.S. Navy. Being a member of the U.S. Navy was something he took seriously and held close to his heart all his life. In 1954, Guy began his career at Monsanto, where he would meet the love of his life, Nell. Guy and Nell got married in 1955 and went on to have two precious daughters (Suzanne and Deana). In 1985, after years of dedicated work, even earning an award for ten years of perfect attendance, Guy retired. Once retired, Guy spent his time enjoying life by getting a motorhome and taking adventures across the country with his wife and close friends. Guy was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer (once he even got a hole in one). He also enjoyed tending to his yard on his John Deere, watching his favorite team, The Florida Gators, and listening to good old country music. Guy was a member of Olive Baptist Church for many years and loved the Lord God with all his heart. Guy was most famous for the way he loved everyone. Each person who got the chance to meet him would say “Oh, Guy, he is the sweetest man!” and they were all correct, everyone that knew him was blessed by it. Guy Presley loved deeply his kindness was never ending, he was always first to apologize if he felt he had done anyone wrong. He was an A+ husband, father, Papa, and friend. He was a sparkle in everyone’s life. Guy Presley will be forever missed. Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Millard Fillmore and Ruby Cornelia (McKenzie) Presley; his three brothers R.C. Williams, Everett Millard Presley, and Henry Newton Presley; along with his loving best friend and wife of nearly 65 years, Hazel WyNell “Nell” Jernigan Presley. Guy is survived by his two daughters, B. Suzanne Shumate (Guy), and Deana Presley; one granddaughter, Brooke Peoples (Adam); and four great grandchildren, Emma Medeiros, Bryhton Peoples, Padme Peoples, and Lyric Peoples; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 14, 2023 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, 1000 S. Highway 29, Cantonment, FL 32533. Interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. in Barrancas National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Guy's memory to Olive Baptist Church, 1836 E. Olive Rd., Pensacola, FL 32514.
