Gordon Robert Bauschka

Gordon Robert Bauschka, 79, went to be with the love of his life, Maureen Bauschka in Heaven on Thursday, October 13, 2022. He was born to Gordon and Mary Bauschka on June 22, 1943 in Adrian, Michigan and enjoyed growing up there where he was active in football and wrestling. He had many wonderful stories of his youth and liked to share them as “the good old days.” Gordon joined the United States Navy in 1962 and was stationed in many places including California, Guam and Hawaii. In 1967 he was stationed in Ireland where he met his wife of 46 years and they were blessed with their daughter Lynda soon after. Gordon’s career in the Navy brought the family to many places including New York, Maryland, Pensacola, Kenitra Morocco, Rota Spain, Connecticut and back to Pensacola where he retired after 20 years of service. During his years in the service, he received two Good Conduct Medals, a Defense Medal and many other accolades. After retirement from the Navy, Gordon had to stay “active” and spent several years as a Corrections Officer with Escambia County while simultaneously studying and receiving his Bachelor Degree from Troy University. He then worked with Mantech until starting his own business, The DIGS Company where he provided Data Information Gathering Services. Gordon enjoyed cowboy movies, spending time with his family, playing card games with his grandchildren, going for “sight-seeing” car rides and anything to do with computers. He loved sharing stories of his travels but none more than when he, Maureen and Lynda drove from Morocco to Ireland with their close friends, the Faught family. He enjoyed a nice cold Smithwicks when he would visit family in Ireland, and he also looked forward to going back to Michigan to visit his parents, cousins, his sister Sandra and her family as well as his many friends. After the loss of Maureen, he reunited with his high school sweetheart Judith. Gordon and Judith were together until her passing in 2018. Gordon had a wonderful sense of humor and would never forget a good story that he would retell often. He was a loving and devoted husband, an amazing father and adoring grandfather. He will be missed in a way that words can never describe. Gordon is preceded in death by his wife, Maureen Bauschka and his parents, Gordon and Mary Bauschka. He is survived by his daughter, Lynda (Jon) Stier; grandchildren, Jonathon and Isabella Stier; sister, Sandra (Lewis) Keller; sister-in-law, Bernadette (James) McFarland; brothers in law, Jim (Renee) McGrory and Don (Jeanette) McGrory and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Faith Chapel South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, Florida from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Mass will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 5200 Saufley Field Road, Pensacola, Florida at 11:00am with Burial following at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola NAS. Pallbearers will be Jon Stier, Jonathon Stier, Patrick Faught and Jim McGrory. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Faught, James McFarland and Don McGrory.
