Gladys Josephine Lewis

“Life is a road that winds among the hills of time…with every turn in the road an old view vanishes And a new view appears”. Gladys Josephine Lewis, the youngest of six children, was born on June 12, 1953 to the late Bob and Rosemary Lewis in New Orleans, Louisiana. On July 7, 2013, Gladys yielded to the will of our heavenly father at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Florida with family at her bedside. She was educated in the New Orleans Public Schools system, where she was recognized as an honor roll student at Seventh-Day Adventist school while in attendance. She was an Alumni of McDonough No. 35 Senior High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. At an early age, Gladys accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in New Orleans, Louisiana. In her later years, she maintained her Christian faith and became devoted member of the Kingdom International Church until her home going. Gladys was a comforting mother and homemaker that enjoyed professional modeling, cooking for family and friends and watching old western movies. She was a federal employee at the Naval Support Activity (NSA) in Algiers, Louisiana until 1986. Gladys was preceded in death by her sister, Mary A. Walker; and her brother, Phillip J. Lewis. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted daughter, Manika Lewis of Navarre, Florida and Son Skylar P. Lewis of Katy, Texas; three sisters: Barbara (Sidney) Frazier of New Orleans, La., Beronica (Calvin) Webb of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Diane Burnett of New Orleans, Louisiana; four grandkids: Skyla Scott, Jamal Lewis, Donte Lewis, and Ye’lle Scott of Katy, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and devoted friends.
