Frederick J. Strasser

Ninety years of age, of Pensacola, FL passed away on January 27, 2019 (6:45PM) at Covenant Inpatient Hospice Center, Sacred Heart Hospital. He was born on March 15, 1928 in Mainz, Germany to Jacob and Rose Strasser. He came to the United States through Ellis Island when he was six years old. He entered the United States Navy in 1945. He retired from the US Navy in 1974 after twenty-nine years of service and made Pensacola his home. After retiring from the Navy, his next career move took him into Real Estate, which he did for several years. After Real Estate, he went back to the base into Civil Service. For years he toured the country’s National parks in his motor homes with his grandchildren, ending each year in Orlando at Disney World. In his later years, his life revolved around his two best buddies, Chief and Rusty, his beloved dogs. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Texas. He had been a Master Mason for more than sixty years. He was also a member of Hadji Shrine Temple of Pensacola. He married Dolores Galbreath on June 14, 1964. She preceded him on February 3rd, 1998 John Strasser, his son, preceded him in death on December 4th, 1985. His sister, Lydia Alexander preceded him on September 6th, 2012 Survivors include his daughter, Janet (Kurt) Young; his son Jeffrey (Suzanne) Strasser; his grandsons, Brian (Shannon) Zinck, Jason (Tia) Zinck, Justin (Brooke) Strasser and Nicholas Strasser; his granddaughter Jessica Kesler, his great granddaughters, Kayla Zinck, Savannah Kesler and Shelley Kesler and his great grandson Koby Moore, Noah Moore and Jacob Zinck. A special “Thank You” to the staff at Olive Branch, Sacred Heart Hospital and Covenant Care for their loving care, not only to our father, but to the family as well during his final days. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Faith Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory South on Friday, February 1. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 AM. Dad will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:00 PM with full Military Honors. Honorary Pallbearers include Brian Zinck, Jason Zinck, Justin Strasser, Nicholas Strasser, Koby Moore, Noah Moore and Jacob Zinck.
