Eros Domingo Villafuerte

Eros Domingo Villafuerte, 71, moved on from the physical world of this life and is now on to the next. His eternal soul gained freedom from his limited physical body on April 23, 2018, in Pensacola, Florida, surrounded by his loving wife Tess, and his children Elma, Ezric, and Erin. Eros was born on December 1, 1946, in Manila, Philippines, to Jeremias Villafuerte (a university registrar preparing to sit for the bar exam) and Serapia Domingo (a teacher and homemaker). Together they owned and managed a dormitory in Manila near the University of the East and Far Eastern University. When Eros was 5 years old, his father died as a result of repeated torture during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines, leaving Eros and his 2 brothers and 2 sisters to be raised by his mother alone. Even through these hardships, Eros graduated from high school at the National Teachers College as salutatorian and was an active member of the choir of Knox Methodist Church. Eros enlisted in the United States Navy in 1966, striving to be a protector of the realm and provider for his family after seeing the atrocities of war in his homeland. Eros served for 20 years and retired in 1986. His sense of adventure and courage allowed him to live his life boldly, and free. As a Sagittarian, he lived by his own rules, in his own way, with wise cracking sass, and straight to the point honesty. Eros never sugarcoated his words unless of course he was speaking to his beloved wife Tess. Eros loved fishing, cooking, singing, dancing, and gambling- not in that particular order. Eros is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Teresita Garcia; daughters, Elma (Jason) Lankford and Erin (Francis) Namocatcat; son, Ezric (Caitlin) Villafuerte; grandchildren, Ellie, Emma, Justin, Jonathan, Cambria, Cierra, and Elliot; sister, Ethel Avenido; brother, Ezra Villafuerte; cousins, nieces, and nephews in the Philippines; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Eric Villafuerte; and sister, Eva Aquinde. Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Monday, April 30, 2018 at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Mike Mashburn officiating.
