Doris Marie Whiteside

Doris Marie (Wideman) Whiteside went into the presence of her Lord and Savior to receive the jewel in her crown on January 3, 2020 in Pensacola, FL. Doris was born on August 10, 1937 in St. Louis, MO to father, Amuel “Emil” Vivian Wideman, and mother, Katheryn Belle Moore Wideman, who predeceased her. Doris was the sixth child to be born into her family of 7 children, including 1 sister and 5 brothers. She met her husband, soulmate, and best friend, Bud Luther Whiteside, while attending Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, TN. They were married on August 26, 1961 in Bloomsdale (Festus), MO before settling in Pensacola, FL where Bud and Doris raised their two children, Wesley and Lynda. Doris was employed by Sacred Heart Hospital employment office, Vince Whibbs insurance company, Colonial Insurance, and retired from Moore, Hill, and Westmoreland law firm. She was presently employed with Mary Kay as an Independent Sales Director for the past 25 years. Working as a sales director gave Doris the drive to “come out of her shell” as well as the opportunity to share the gospel. Doris was a member of East Brent Baptist Church for 52 years. She was dedicated to her Sunday School class and was also a retired Sunday School teacher, teaching students ranging in ages from 3 years old to college. Doris was a devoted Christian wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt, and friend. Doris loved to spend time with her family, church family, and her Mary Kay unit she called “Doris’s diamonds”. Doris was beautiful, loving, kind, caring, faithful, full of wisdom and grace, a great listener, supportive, encouraging, generous, selfless, a helping hand, the glue to her family, and lit up every room she entered into. And let’s not forget about her sense of humor! She impacted many lives and her spirit will live through those who she leaves behind. Doris is survived by her husband, Bud; son, Wesley (Tracy); daughter, Lynda (Jerry); and 5 grandchildren who were the light of her world: Anna Barnes, Joshua Barnes, Katheryn Whiteside, Michael Whiteside, and Gabriel Whiteside. She is also survived by her brother, Donald (Marian) Wideman (Kansas City, MO); brother, Bob (Julie) Wideman (St. Louis, MO); brother, John (Karen) Wideman (Festus, MO); Jeanne Wideman (sister-in-law), Wilma Wideman (sister-in-law), Ernie Cook (brother-in-law), Terry (Cecilia) Whiteside (brother-in-law), and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Katheryn Wideman; brothers, Bill Wideman and Charles Wideman; and sister, Nadine Wideman-Cook. The pallbearers are grandsons, Joshua Barnes, Michael Whiteside, and Gabriel Whiteside; and nephews, Bradley Wideman, Brian Wideman, Brian Whiteside, Mel Whiteside, and Trent Whiteside. Doris will be buried at Pensacola Memorial Gardens, 7433 Pine Forest Road, Pensacola, FL 32526. To God be the glory!
