Dioscoro Boquid Regaspi

Dioscoro “Coro” Boquid Regaspi of Pensacola, FL, aged 90, was welcomed into the arms of our Heavenly Father on November 6, 2017. Born on April 17, 1927 in Bato Camarines Sur, Philippines, he left his family’s farm to join the U.S. Navy in 1954. Coro married the love of his life, Nora Myrna DeAusen, in Cavite City, Philippines in 1960, moving to San Diego, CA shortly afterwards. His naval career also took him to Newport, RI; Norfolk, VA (with tours in the Far East and Mediterranean Sea); and finally Ellyson Field before retiring in Pensacola. A naval highlight was working on the USS Estes during its tests related to the hydrogen bomb. In 1973, he became a naturalized citizen. After his naval career, Coro and his beloved wife of 43 years, Nora, owned and operated the Oriental House restaurants (Pensacola, Cantonment) for over 20 years, one of the earliest Asian restaurants in the Florida panhandle. Returning to his farming roots in retirement, he provided fruit from his garden to his grandchildren and tended to his colorful orchids. He was also a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Dioscoro is preceded in death by his wife Nora in 2003 and is survived by his youngest sister, Sister Clarita B. Regaspi D.C. (Philippines), five children, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. ● Catherine & husband Gene Cox (Pensacola) with children Elena (C.J). Pratt, Natalie (Chris) Uebelsteadt, and Nicholas Cox ● Irene Regaspi (Dallas/Pensacola) and her children Christina (Stephen) Friar, Kelly Melvin, Sydney Melvin & fiance Bradey Gasaway, and 3 grandchildren ● Guillermo and wife Lisa Regaspi (Orlando) and their daughter Reagan Regaspi ● Trinidad Regaspi & husband Sean Cosgrove (Pittsburgh). ● Eric & wife Lacy Regaspi (Bangkok, Thailand) with children, Remy and Ensley Regaspi. The family would like to thank his niece Daisy Galang and her family, Mrs. Fe Venturini, Dr. George Antonious, Dr. Philip Ham, and Davita Dialysis for their care these past several years. The family will receive friends from 4-6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 13 at Faith Chapel South, 100 Beverly Parkway, with rosary recited at 4:15 p.m. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 401 Van Pelt Lane. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Alpha Center, 6004 Pernella Rd., Pensacola, FL 32504 .
